Was up to 42° & I was in a "T" shirt splitting. (Sun still giving us some heat for a few more weeks , that helped too)
The wood has warmed me up the 3rd time already .

    2 year IMO.
Some say 1, but I notice a big difference in how it burns after (at least ) 2 years. Much better & cleaner burning.

Biggest problem with birch is it has to be covered to last. If it gets rained on lot, it gets punky in the stack.

20° o_O & foggy this AM. Heavy frost.

Dave, nice hard work there. So I guess the moose didn't hitch a ride to your house to graze, huh?

Nice work Dave. Sav, give him time. The piles will straighten up after 30 or 40 years of burning set in.
If you need chains on your four wheeler. Ya might be a red neck!

Yes. We call it "Ice fog" .
When conditions are right & way below zero,
Fairbanks gets it a lot more than we do here.

    Happens near - 40°, o_O

Got it stacked. Just + of 2 cord.
    1 more trip cutting & I'll call 16/17 done! :)

Got up to 38°, now down to 29°.
Below freezing happened fast when the sun went down.

    I qualify :)
I leave the chains on until done skidding logs at the cutting area.
    Hope that happens tomorrow.

Nice pics, Dave, as always. You've gotten a lotta splittin' done there. Great stacks, especially those under cover.

BTW, even fog pics look great coming from AK. Thought you'd be colder than that already. We had our first frost this morning. Going down to the lower 20s next three or four nights. In a month you'll have us beat, though.
