Hi folks. Brand new member, but I have been lurking (and learning) for quite a while. Love this site!! I thought it was time I finally jumped on board. Two years ago I bought 51 acres with a log cabin. I could not imagine living in a log cabin without heating with wood cut on my property, so I bought an insert (Drolet 1800i) for the fireplace and installed it January 2014. I March 2014 I installed a free standing stove (Drolet Myriad) to the existing flue in the basement. My brother and I scrounged up barely enough dead firewood to get through last winter. We have really intensified the firewood gathering since the Spring of 2014. Pictures are what we have CSS on my property to date, plus some Chestnut Oak we dropped which were within a few feet of the cabin. My brother has also hauled a substantial amount to his house. We are very blessed with plenty of trees here.

Welcome aboard Cribbed. With your very first post, you've made a lot of members envious! Log cabin....51 acres...and then the last pics even shows some of your (and your kids) toys! I'll bet you spend a lot of time there, no? Good start on the wood too.

Thanks for the warm welcome. No young kids here. The trampoline and tree house were left by the previous owner. Love my toys though. Since I did mention the cabin, I have provided pics (from before we dropped the close trees).

    Welcome aboard cribbed ends .
So that's what a "cabin" looks like in your neck of the woods (literally:thumbs:), eh?
Very nice and you'll obviously fit in here quite well.
There's some guys on here with the Myriad, so you can compare notes.

Yup, woods is a good description of this property. The only flat (sort of) areas are where my stacks are located. I feel very fortunate to have found the property with all this wood. Guess I should have said log home instead of cabin :D.

Welcome to FHC Crib, very nice place you have there and looks to be in a awesome setting, always been fond of the drive through Tennessee on the way to Gatlenburg/Pigeon Forge. I see you have a real splitter also. lol jk

I am near Andersonville, about 20 miles north of Knoxville. Love my 30 ton Northstar splitter. Split about 20 cords so far without a hiccup. Starts 1st pull most of the time. Not found anything it would not split....yet. Do you visit Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge for the leaves in the fall? Traffic is horrible when the leaves turn.

Thanks. Wood species is very diverse. Lots of oak, maple, and beech. There was a lot of Virginia pine, but a lot was beetle killed several years ago. Plenty of poplar, and some hickory. Haven't seen any ash yet.
