Looking at Craigslist found a ad trying to sell two chainsaws,40.00 or best offer. One was a McCulloch super pro 81 The other was a homelite 240. So went to look at them and the guy said they were sitting in his dad's garage they were cleaning out. Just wanted them gone. So for 35.00 I made them go away. Looked at the 81 today and all it needs is a fuel line, started right up and runs good. Still has a McCulloch 20" bar on it in good shape. I have a fuel line and a felling dog coming for it. 240 haven't looked at that yet. So that makes 2 old Mac's in my collection . Good day
That Super Pro 81 is a real beast, some say its got more grunt than its replacements, the Pro Mac 850 & Pro Mac 800 that are also 5 cube/82cc,both have electronic ignition vs points/condenser on the SP81. Slightly different cylinder porting between the 81 & newer models too I believe. I cant vouch for that yet,my 850 & newly acquired 800 are certainly no slouches,my 81 needs a new spark plug wire, maybe a coil too & other TLC,but the compression will practically snap your wrist right now so that's a plus. You did great - that SP81 is a $200+ saw on feebay in strong running condition, price goes up if its extra nice cosmetically also.
Thanks thistle for the information. If you don't have the compression release pushed in and try to start it you know it. My new fuel line should be here I hope by Tuesday and then I'll see how it really runs and cuts.
Got all my parts in and on(Fuel line is alittle iffy too small to go on the carb.need to find the right size) The power is awesome love it.
