This time it is for front tires on a gasoline 2wd John Deere Gator side by side. Actually it's a UTV. They were leaking due to dry rot and I bought two tubes. One of them holds air (so far) and the other is a no-go because the outermost lugs actually have some separation from the tire and it's pinching. The tires on it (all 4) are Innova Cayman 22x9.5-10 and max pressure is 12psi. Looking at ATV tires of this same or very near size, most of the offerings are 5-7psi. I find a set of 2 of the low pressure tires for $110-$115 and some rated 14psi that are $160 for 2. Again, front tires for 2wd. Would the low pressure tires work ok or if not, what are they designed for? I don't even know if I will keep this Gator, might sell it. EDIT: The guy who installed the tubes aired my tires up to 25psi. I let it out to 12psi. His going to twice the pressure rating, what are the ramifications of that? They were at 25psi a few days.
Are they all 4 ply, or are the lower PSI tires 2 ply? Do they give a load rating? That's what matters, more than the PSI (although the higher max PSI tires probably are higher load rated tires too) And you have to watch the max PSI rating because some tires have a max PSI to seat the bead, and then a separate max PSI to operate with. Didn't do them any favors! May have broken cords, especially if the tires were already crusty
