Well, not really, but it looks like my roadside and FBM scrounges are over or drastically cut back.

Been in the works for a while and today came to fruition. Tree service owner directly across the street from my wood storage has offered me wood in the past and I finally took him up on it. Shows me a pile of logs and says mark the ones I want and he'll pull them out for me to cut right in the yard. All mixed hardwood. I should be able to cut and fill most of my inventory just from here. Great labor saver and a lot less stress. IMG_6807.JPG IMG_6808.JPG What I'll cut tomorrow for starters. IMG_6809.JPG I can come at my leisure too. Just send him a text. He will be clearing an area just for my use.

Holy cow, I’d be there every darn day.. my stacks would eventually border my property line and go up from there.

Your annual April Fool's post came a little early this year, huh Brad? ;)
That's an awesome arrangement. You can still scrounge whenever you get the itch too... I know you won't be able to completely give up the thrill of the chase

What does he do with it, how does he handle it?
I'd maybe be talking to him about a deal with a processor that would benefit both. Is there much storage space on the property?

That’s quite a windfall Brad! How far you traveling to cut there? Can you split there too or do you prefer to split right off the tailgate? Great situation you have there, I’d say.

He has a processor and all the logs that are ideal go through it from what he told me. I see other trucks come and go with logs and wood. I know another seller that gets small dump truck fulls of logs. I also know he drops logs at other sellers too. The primo oak gets put aside and he has a buyer come from Canada to take them. I see them come home often with the log truck full from the days work.

Plenty of storage there but lots of logs and equipment around occupying it. He had a big burn going and some nice logs were in it...oak and the fresh cut maple from that day. Busy guy so I don't chat too long with him.

Its literally across the street from my wood storage locations (ten minutes from home) so no more running around chasing scores.

Bringing a splitter there maybe in the works. With the splits going to different locations it may be easier to process there. All of tomorrow's rounds going on the PU and split at storage.

The end of an era? Excellent deal Brad. Take advantage of opportunities when they present themselves,,,,,and I think the opportunities are just beginning. Busy guy, don’t want to bother him, I get it. With time it’ll all come together. For now just enjoy.
Maybe you can build him a fence around the property,,,,with pallets and splits ;) Solve those storage problems too.
