The chain is about 25% life left, and trying to shape the cutter with the file with a bit too much sideways pressure... And slip and OUCH! One look at the cut and I knew it was going to be trouble. Picked up the baby today, and he instantly grabs onto the wrapped up finger! That hurt more than anything.
Big time ouch., sorry that happened to you. I'm sticking with the battery powered dremel and the sharpener attachment. I like my fingers
I think you got the chain sharp, did a good job on your finger Had a bunch of router bits in a stand on the bench, reached across , touched the tip of one, laid the back of my hand open, 5 stitches Sharpening Jointer knifes cut my thumb to the bone, that hurt
I took a hunk off my finger the other day sharpening a chain. It didn't bleed much and didn't hurt much either. It was nice and sharp.
Depending on your health insurance situation that could be a very expensive lesson... First stitch at an er is about a grand these days.
Don't always wear heavy leather gloves when using the saws or splitting wood, but always have them on when filing a chain. And especially when honing the edge on the X25 or X27.
I usually wear gloves too, but in the hustle of the day at the G2G, I didn't have them on. I poked myself at least 4 times playing with chain that day. Blood on the chain just makes the saw look meaner anyways.
There's a little blood that goes into every chain I work on... But nothing that bad!!!! damm!! And right on the knuckle...
I got 7 stitches on my knuckles a few years ago. I think it was about $400 per stitch, so I know exactly how you feel. Mine weren't the result of anything nearly as cool as a chainsaw. I was taking off my hoodie and hit my hand on a florescent light fixture.
Yep, always nick and a little blood... never like this. Wondering how these are going to play out when I get to use my trigger finger again?!?
Even if you didn't hit anything important, it'll probably still be stiff and achy (no jokes here) for a looooong time.
