Isn't that a contradiction of terms? Solo and then the whole crew? I know this is normal. And I am not taking anything away from her achievements, at least she recognizes the help needed to accomplish this. Relative of yours Dennis?
Crew most likely means the safety and maintenance crew. Solo means there were no other riders to draft off of or set the pace
That indeed is not a contradiction of terms. A rider in these type of events are required to have a crew. Even the crew has to have backups because it would be very difficult to have anyone other than the rider go non-stop for 24 hours. But the physical effort is 100% up to the rider. Mechanics are also needed to keep the machine in working order. Also so the rider does not have to stop to eat, hand-offs are done for both food and water. Some nursing is usually required, even for blisters which can be numerous. This is just a sampling of thing which have to be considered but also consider riding in the darkness!
Right. Here is more information and some good reading: First Woman in History to Break 500 miles in 24 hours! (constantcontact.com)
Backwoods, I apologize for sounding less than amazed with this young lady's feat. Heck I drove a little over 400 miles to pick up some calves last week riding in my nice truck pulling a gooseneck stock trailer and was beat at the end of the day. Thank you for posting this.
Interesting. She's surpassed quite a few records, some after a riding accident that caused spinal injuries.
