I answered a CL ad yesterday for free locust, already on the ground, and made an appointment for this morning. I arrived to find several large ash trees on the ground in a wooded suburban lot, all close to the driveway and blocked only by a small incline and a split-rail fence. It was another one of those 'wish I had a big truck' moments. As if that weren't good enough, the 20"+ tree closest to the parking pad had its trunk propped up on one of its large branches, with about 10 feet of the base cantilevered a foot off the ground.
That would be nice, but it's just a 2000 Subaru Outback. Only one load today, but I might make another trip tomorrow or Wednesday. I'd love to make a big project of taking it all, but there's no place to put it. Lovely weather to be in the woods.
I will, send you 1000 USPS flat rate shipping boxes. A staple gun and a book of stamps. Just staple some boxes on the trunk, affix some stamps and call the mailman. Thanks.
The ad is easy to find on CL; just look for an ad with the first two pictures from my original post. The ad originally didn't have any photos, so I sent the homeowner the ones I'd taken.
I use to stack so much in it and drive about 40 miles from work with the car looking as if it was hitting the payment. Just got rid my old outback and got a new one. I'm lucky because a buddy of mine lets me use his dump truck now...
Fabricate something and utilize the roof rack. The Subaru owners around me put em through the paces of a 40 yr old farm truck
Cool, found it! Thanks for the heads up. Gonna shoot them a message after I am done babysitting my brisket. Putting some of that cherry wood to work.
