    Was for dinner tonight.
Had it at her cousins a few years back and they destroyed it! She just put it in a roasting pan in the oven and it turned out much better than I remember!
The meats were pork, Italian sausage, hard salami; also had cheese, olives, mushrooms, and of course some spices or herbs sorta thing going on .
It was prepared by a local food store chain.

Pulse feels extra strong tonight for some reason. (does anyone else hear that beating sound?)

My own tastes call for leaving them out, I like them on pizzas, though!

Mom makes "olive dip"....its a love or hate kinda thing...you gotta love green olives...
My brother and BIL call it poison....
Mrs. and I like it. But I'll admit the first time I tried it, and didn't know what it was, it was quite different.
I don't need it on a burger, but as a dip with thin pretzels, I really like it

Is this "Al Capone Roast" a common/proper name in your area?

I'd really like to try it, but don't want to get weird looks if I ask about it at a market...o_O
I saw lots of signs for Pasty's or Pasties, but not Al Capone roasts

My Mom is first generation American from Italy and she made that too, called it something in Italian. Yes it is better than good.

I'm finding recipes that include black olives, not green olives. I may have assumed too much :emb:

You know, it just may be a local thing. I'm not sure.
Bought a couple hand made frozen pizzas from a local shop this morning and they gave me a free loaf of Italian bread! Still warm, to boot! they said every Friday they will do that. As soon as I got home, I made a al capone sammy with the fresh bread.

Viking80 I am not sure of the recipe. She came home with the roast last week form a chain of food stores in Mi. Wi. and Mn.
The way this one was put together does not match any recipes that I found on the web
It looked like a pork roast sliced length wise and stuffed with sliced hard (or genoa) salami and a loaf of italian sausage. The cheese was not only on top but also inside (unless it just melted down into it as it cooked) and the olives and mushrooms were also mixed inside the roast.
