I am so darn happy after 47 days , January 15 to march 4, somebody can correct my math. It's above freezing! Hooray. It's been a long cold winter here. Snows to deep to css. Snowmobiling around property and farm I got 10 to 15 cord to clean up. When snows less than 3 feet deep. Just wanted to share.

Our forecast for tonight just changed from -9 to -5.
Tomorrow is looking to be our last really cold day, then the forecast goes uppity up up.
    Until it changes.
    Spring is coming.

And I've got above 40 here, sunny... and water flowing into my garage... just cleared the snow banks on both sides... dug out down to the last inch of ice and spread salt along where it can run away. Didn't see this one coming. Water was supposed to go else where... ya... sure...

Stinny, that ice isn't liking that salt. You better keep an eye open!

Yup, just saw a friend he needed to have a pickup truck load of dry. Helped him load, 4th friend of season that needed a little, average temp for all of February was 7 degrees most everyone ran out. That's in Burlington warmer then where I am. Come spring when we are css "friends" that help will get opportunity again. "Friends" that forget to help won't find me as generous. Am lucky in here I live have plenty of room to stack and store. I guess better start planning 4 years ahead.

    Nothing wrong with that.
I bring a quad trailer load of wood to two different elderly neighbors prior to our extreme cold snaps couple times a year, I can't expect them to help on the backend, other than the call when a tree has come down.

We are cold too but looks like it will start thawing just a tad on Saturday. It can't come soon enough. But this year, we did not get much snow and it is all very dry snow so it could go away fast....I hope.

Well Dennis it got to 37 yesterday and I think 2 below this mornin. The Ice on the lake is over 4 feet thick.n At the store when ice fisherman came in and needed another extension for his auger. I can't wait for outside time or June as we like to call it:thumbs:

So I dislocated my knee and I have read about all on this site and checked out a few others.. man there is some equipment out there got to get me some more toys..:D.. so this is what I think . The whole blaze king vs. Woodstock thing is like an east coast vs. west coast thing. West coast has longer shoulder season and burn a lot of softwood. In the great North East, yeah it was 8 below this morning, I go cold for 6 months and shoulder season at 50 we are opening windows cause it's not 20 below. I am getting ideal steel. Best bang for the buck going down to see factory next friday.
sooo.. when talking about hoarding levels should we start another discussion. I say a cord of ash or locust etc should count more than a cord of pine etc. I mean darn I can split pine faster with a mall then the old Lalonde splitter. Just thought that might start a good discussion. OK I am sitting in front of stove with enjoying. :rootintootin:

But it still takes as long to cut pine as it does to cut ash. As for splitters, they are not all created equal; large tonnage is not requiried and I can split faster with hydraulics than I ever could think about splitting by hand and I've done a lot of that. And if a contest were held with some types of wood, it could be possible to outdo a splitter for a few blocks but when we start talking cords it is a different story.
