So im new. Been wanting to post but wasn't a member. Finally joined and glad I did. You guys and gals are full of info and I'm absorbing as much as I can. Now I have a saw that I found in my uncle's shed like 6 years ago. He didn't want it and I didn't pay much attention. So I just put it in my loft and forgot about it. But about 2 weeks ago I was cleaning and I found it and was kinda surprised about this lil guy. I never even looked at it till then lol. But I'm at a loss as what to do with it and would like some advice. Keep and use or put up in a safe place or sell it. Please be honest and help a fella out. I honestly dont believe its ever been run. I have the case(Faded) and the instruction manual in plastic. Thanks.

Welcome to FHC... Glad to have you join. :handshake: ... I've only seen a couple of these, and none have been in that particular condition. I'd keep it or sell it, but wouldn't use it. Just depends on the meaning to you personally.

Very good collector value with high demand. I'd keep it,especially since it was passed down from a family member.Wouldnt use it,to keep that bar looking great. Mine had almost no use by previous owner, had been dropped & there's a hairline crack in fuel tank & the oil cap was misthreaded at one time & now wont tighten properly. But its a shelf queen anyway. Don't use it. Whether to keep an heirloom or sell.... Do you like that uncle?

I wouldn't use it either. I'd echo what Rope says. If it doesn't mean much to you, it might help someone fill out a collection.

Vote for keep and not use. A fine piece of Americana you have there! A reminder from the past that the USA *can* make products that we choose not to anymore.

I'm at a stand still. I like this lil guy but my uncle doesn't remember where he got it and I really have nowhere to display it. If I decide to get rid of it. Any ideas? Thanks everyone

I wouldn't use it but I wouldn't sell either. However, that is just me. Now the Barbies, I want to get rid of them even if I have to sell them on the cheap.
If you are not interested in it as a collector's item; although down the road you might change on that, then there is no use in having it sit around. I wish now that I had never got into the doll collection thing as fleabay killed the collector market for dolls. From what I see, there are saw collectors out there. Find out what the saw is going for and price high; you can always come down later and there might be that one person that must have the saw.

There is your answer, keep it; even if it has to go back into the loft for now. Heck, you have nothing in it and regrets are no fun if you sell and wish you hadn't. Sit on it for now, the value as a special saw only grows with time.

Oh, I almost forgot. Welcome to the FHC, there is no better wood forum in the universe, not even on Pluto.

BTW: for the manual, get a comic book bag; they are made to keep paper safe. That was my brother's thing, comic book collecting.

Very cool. That was made a few years after the oil embargo. Right around when my dad started burning wood and cutting with his Homelite XL. That was the start of my wood burning/splitting interests.
