Back around Labor Day 2023 I made this heavy duty firewood trailer out of an old military generator trailer.

It holds a good amount of wood, 9'10" long x 7'6" wide x 3'0" high sides. and I'm thinking of building a roof for it that is removable with my tractors loader. Thinking of making wooden trusses of sorts that slide into the uni-strut. Covered with either a heavy duty tarp or metal panels. Would leave a few inches of air space for cross ventilation. The trailers sides are now heavy duty expanded metal, and it has a tailgate. Would go up another 6-12" then turn into a triangle/gable. Anyone else have images of their covered wagons/trailers?

Would this be for short term storage, or what?

My main woodshed holds 8 full cords and is about 150 feet from my house. The trailer would be parked next to the basement hopper window with a slide. We recently got a new heating system, so the area I used to store firewood is now full of shelving. My basement storage went from 3 cords to 3/4 cord.

I'm trying to avoid having to drive across the lawn as often, especially when the ground is unfrozen, soft and wet

Mount unistrut open side up on the side panels, cut a piece of wire hog panel the right length so that it bows up to the degree that you'd prefer when the ends are dropped into the unistrut, zip tie a tarp over. Easy on/easy off

I had chute system like that for a house I used to lived in. Back the pickup truck right up to the cellar window and slide firewood into the basement. Stacks were 6' from the woodstove, it was a sweet setup.

Ain’t nothing better than loading the stove in your slippers all winter long!

With such little clearance between the tires and the deck, do the tires rub when loaded?
