Got the Ford 5000 Stuck with the last trailer load of wood from across the creek. Figured when I got the 4x4 (really 2x3) Kubota I could cross it to get more of the dead Ash I had cut up last winter. NOPE wouldn't do it so trailer hauling wood from the woods was out.
I could skid logs how ever so that is what I did to get what I needed to last this winter/heating season.

Yes it does dull the chains pretty quick when cutting the stuff up but I allowed the rain to wash them off a couple of times before rolling Them to get washed again. Still I spend some time sharpening a couple of chains.

This is what was left Sunday morning.

This is the pile I had Sunday morning when I was going to finish.

Once I finish up out the living room window wood, I have this BigAsh tree to cut up on the neighbors. I can cut it right there I think if it doesn't rain to much and make it mushy.

Al, that Kubota is a 4x4 but you have to tell it you want the rear locked. Using your left foot, just step on that little lever with your heel and you will have true 4x4.

Nope stand on that little bar lever on the right side rear platform still is only a 2x3 drive on mine. The front doesn't have a locker, nor will it lock up when you lock the rear diff..

I know 2 things about that new Kubota of mine, that I need ASAP. Need to widen the stance, glad I have Ag tires so I can do that. I also need wheel weights as the rear is still to light even with beet juice loaded tires.
I am 70 years old and loose a month of my life every time one of those rear tires lifts and the loader is nearly dragging the ground.
Scares the s**t out of me.

Think I am going to make the rounds of flint pawn shops and se eif I can buy some affordable 100 pound lifting weights.

Kubota Dealer told me he doesn't sell any for this size of tractor and he checked the price, $500.00. So shocked I didn't ask how much weight. Looked on the internet and seems they all want to sell 1000 pounds for over $1000.00.
Lifting weights at stores like Dunhams and wal mart they want about a dollar a pound.

Check to see if a scrap yard is willing to sell you weight. Mine gets an occasional tractor and will sell the weights cheap.

I have a bunch of wheel weights for tractors but the centers of ther Kubota rims won't let them slid inside the wheel. I used a 3 PT draw bar to add weight but have to take it off if I want to use the back blade or finish mower.

Maybe when I swap the tires sides I can mount a set inside of thre Axel on the dish.

Yes, if you don't have the HST then the lever is on the right side. The front should always be locked.

I'm with you on the need for a wider stance. Considering changing that.

I have the gear model, the front isn't locked in. I was crossing and had one front wheel in a rut off thr ground and it just spun and didn't pull. Had to chain up one rear wheel to a tgree and lock the rear to get out of that mess. So mine is 2x3 only.

About finished working it any way. Have to repair the power steering seals in the Ford 5000 and send it down the road quickly I hope.
Then get ready for fire arm deer season, probably last job is to skid the blind out of the front yard to back behind the barn. It is roomier.

Move this small one from behind the barn to the front yard.

Really wanted to use the front loader to level this one but can't cross the creek any longer, till it drys next summer .
