I respect them as well, but stay way back. Snakes are amazing though. Most if not all snakes of different breed will travel 50 miles I think if my memory serves me, and all meet in the same den. How they know where to all meet from that far away is one of earth's great mysteries. We have copperheads, which I had a run in on more than 1 occasion hiking/fishing and timber rattlesnakes, which I've stepped over a downed log while hiking and heard the rattle, freaked me out. The adults are very patient, if provoked will bite but many times not injecting a large amount of venom compared to a young snake that will expel it all, creating a very lethal situation.
I don't mind snakes, we don't really have any dangerous one around here though. If we did I might feel different
All we have are garter snakes which will get my heart pounding with the surprise of nearly stepping on one but the not the fear of being bitten.
Thought you lived by Smoke Show...Might want to reconsider that statement!! When I saw the title of the thread I thought it was gonna be about The Fonz!!
I do, less than an hour away. I am not afraid of snakes, I like to scare the chit out of my husband when I find them in the yard
You freaked me out so I had to double check, the poisonous snakes are found in southwest wi, I live in northeast wi. I will continue to terrorize my Husband without worry...
And I just read this again and realized I'm a little slow...yes smoke is pretty dangerous! Wow...feeling like an idiot right now
I was working on my messed up pool piping under the deck this afternoon and had a little dirt snake laying about a few inches from my work area for ~10mins before I noticed it - still makes me snap back..its the surprise that gets me. if I see them at a distance doesn't bother me probably the biggest reason folks hate snakes is the surprise factor
