Well, kind of. Winds are forecasted to reach 50 mph and snow showers. Drove in it today for a couple of miles with very low visibility. Luckily I brought in a week's worth of wood today as we could get major snow later in the week. Took some pics of the snow. First 2 are just of my yard with the flash on. Last is of 2 of my 3 woodpiles while standing on my deck. I love winter and the snow looks pretty awesome in my opinion. Those of you in the east stay warm the next few days! We could see wind chills down to -15 or -20 overnight and tomorrow.
red oak , whereabouts are u located? We are in the beginning phases of this one too. Ray and I are on the South Shore of Mass.
We got it here today and now the therm. is dropping. The wife and I went out to breakfast after we went back and forth for a while on whether we should or not, then went to a couple craft shops, It's Valentines Day don't ya know. Well we should have stayed home but the Good Lord was watching out for us. The roads got real nasty and the winds kicked up when we went to head home, then there was an accident that had traffic stopped so I finally turned around and went a different route. Sure glad we did as we found out when we got home there was a 20 car pile up on the route we would have been on. I had to take another detour about 5 miles from home because there was cars stuck on a hill. I was glad to be in the garage.
I'm in Shenandoah County Virginia. The west side borders West Virginia. I live about 15 minutes from the state line. The snow and wind didn't really start until I was already on the road. I was headed up to Mom's, who lives a couple of miles away. I wanted to make sure there were no problems with her heat or anything (she lives alone). The way up was ok but coming back about a half hour later was just ridiculous driving. I was the only one on that road and I was glad!
This is the dreaded Greencastle, Pa blizzard..lol.. My parents who live just east of Erie along the lake had almost 3 feet when we were up there last weekend. My dad said they have another foot of fresh snow on top of that..lol.. This is the local blizzard. Franklin county needs to toughen up quite a bit..
It kind of puts it in perspective - here people freak out if the forecast is calling for 3 inches of snow.....
We have been getting hammered here with snow in Central Massachusetts, the constant snow blowing, shoveling and roof raking is really starting to get annoying!
Southern NH has been all snow for the last month - big snows (at least 12" have been common - really adding up. Snow started at about 2pm today and may get another foot by Monday morning......5 weeks till spring.....Cheers!
You're right about that my friend! The streets in Boston were horrible 2 storms ago! I just keep setting the chute on the snow blower higher and higher with each passing storm! I have 8 foot piles at the end of my driveway, it's getting really hard to throw the snow that high that's for sure.
Similar here - I plow a big area with my atv - started with banks pushed WAY back to have room to push the winters snow - some bank piles are probably 15-20 feet long now and the 'open' area sure is shrinking! Cheers!
I am sure the ski resorts in the north east are loving this winter. Always loved getting in first tracks on the slopes. Then after a long day of having fun on the slopes settling in by a beautiful fire to warmup.
Yeah you guys in New England must be real tired of the snow by now! If we got anywhere near that down here people would think the world was ending. What are your temps up there this morning? Our wind is howling and the wind chill is around -20.
