Well, I have a new found respect for you tree guys that spend your time cutting splitting and stacking! I cut split about a cord of hickory today and man is that a lot harder than it looks! A lot of the rounds were cut 20"+ so I had to cut a lot of them to length and on the big rounds I couldn't make a straight cut to save my life. After cutting it I was like, what the hell????! :hair:

I also hit a chain half way through one round so there goes my chain! Got it all cut up and split so next weekend I'll get it stacked, I need a few days for my back to heal! :saw:

A chain..... Oh the irony! Looks like it was a chain for a hammock or something, it was deep in the tree that's for sure!

Yeah, I figured it was a mobile device..... It's still a lot of work even with the splitter but it was nice out there today, sunny and in the 30s so that's some good splitting weather! I had a lot of BIG rounds I had to split and they were a bear to move around.

Nice pile of hickory there

I've got about a cord of hickory to split up. Rough splitting with the x27, it's so stringy. Those green rounds are HEAVY too

Even if you didn't hit anything hickory is rough on chains - I'd think your crooked cuts are oiler related, not necessarily related to the saw but the wood.

It's all worth the hassle when those big splits are cruising, blue flames, on a cold winter night;)

    Prime wood there !
    Ibuprofen is a wood cutter's friend !
I take it the morning with breakfast before & after supper.
Still wake up stiff/sore in the morning, but able to walk around to get limbered up.
    It's a good sore :) :)

If your cutters aren't at exactly the same angle, it will want to wander sideways in the cut. Ran into that problem with one of my chains when I was using my el cheapo electric sharpener. I'm hand filing more now, but you gotta watch out for it then too, if you're better at one side than the other like me!

Nice looking pile of hickory! I'd love to get my hands on some of that!

Good job, dylskee. You got 3 X done today what I did and hickory beats ash in a poker hand anyday. It will be worth the effort when that wood is pushing heat out of the stove.
