I’ve been a member here for a few years, visit every day, rarely post. But I thought I’d share this update. After happily using Stihl saws exclusively for decades I’ve brought a new color into the fold. An Echo CS-620P. I haven’t had a new saw in years. I CSS about 4-5 cords every year. The Stihls have been flawless and dependable. Even when abused at times out of necessity. But after lots of reading, research, shopping and jonesing to try something different the Echo 620 made the cut. Plus I got a great deal at a local dealer! I already used it to cut up a maple that was blown down during a windstorm last summer. It was a decent sized maple for around here about 22” DBH. The Echo impressed me. A lot! Here’s hoping for a lot of good years from my new Echo 620.
Thanks. That’s kind of what I was thinking. I got it with a 20” B&C. The 441 is 24” and the 261 is 18”.
Have any pics to share? The friend that got me into wood burning loved his Echos. That’s all he runs. Dad was a Husky guy so I went that direction. It really is a ford/chevy/dodge deal, except I like my Toyota. Lol. Variety is the spice of life.
What you have is a nice chainsaw that is made by Shindaiwa, they own Echo and this is because my Stihl dealer also sells them.
I have had a cs 680 for the better part of 15 years is my one saw plan. Has never let me down. I like echo may not be the prettiest girl at the prom but gets the job done! Lol
Welcome to the Echo club. You're gonna love that saw. If you’re happy with it now wait till it gets broken in. Echos seem to take 10-15 tanks before they really wake up!
Thanks guys. Of course I have pictures! These are from a staging area near my firewood yard where I put logs I bring in from the woods for easier access when I’m blocking, splitting and stacking. The saw is sitting on some of the maple it sawed up earlier today. It was a cold, yet a little muddy day in the woods today.
From what i have found it's Yamabiko that owns both Shindaiwa and Echo, but Shindaiwa does the Engineering for Echo.
I have a 590, and ZERO complaints. Very dependable, gets abused at times, starts flawlessly, cold or hot. Bang for the buck and warranty, echo is hard to beat IMO. Rumor going around that the chainsaw stork may be dropping a delivery here in the next week or so.
Most the ground was frozen today, except of course where I split. It feels like a never ending mud month of March.
I’ve always owned and used Stihls. They’re great saws. And trimmers, and pole saws, and leaf blowers, etc. I have them all. But when I set out to get a new saw I compared Stihl, Husqvarna and Echo pro saws feature for feature and then overlaid cost... I bought the Echo! So far I’m very pleased. And again, so far, it’s the easiest starting saw I’ve ever used.
I tell ya... ease of starting is pretty dang close to No. 1! I can't stand saws that throw tantrums! EDIT: Anyone know why Echo would be easy to start versus others?
Hard to beat the 5 year warranty of the Echo. Great bang for your buck. If I was in the market for a new saw, I would most likely buy an Echo.
