Grabbed some tulip logs from the Chico score today. I had one more of the big ones on top and chickened out. Short stint on the highway gets me paranoid of da po po. The racks aren’t designed for holding back logs that big. More for tossed firewood. I opted to leave it behind. what ya think Brad? A pickup full or do I need to go back for more?
Nice score. Please tell me after you secured those straps you said to yourself "that's not going anywhere". I don't know a person alive who hasn't said that immediately after tightening a strap.
I usually do just that. Didn’t today tho sorry. That strap was just to make sure the rounds on the side didn’t roll out. Safety first when I’m on the highway LOL
You don't have tie down points/D-rings inside? I'd have loaded the other log and just tied it down well...
I agree….the end justifies the means. Maybe the law sees otherwise thoughEither way, nice kid of logs.
Bought some over a year ago. Never got around to welding them on One con of having a short dual wheel trailer is the balance point is close to the middle. Too much weight in back, not enough in front and you get that nice death wobble. I’ve been experiencing that lately picking up all these odd length logs other people cut. The Aspen and Hickory I took home was bad. Anything over 25 and the trailer started dancing. First load of oak I took home from this score it started swaying past 55 on the highway. I’m one of those people that don’t like driving slow or drawing attention to myself on the road. Especially a highway. Ct is the land of sedans and soccer vans. Anything out of the ordinary is already scrutinized. Even a 12 foot trailer is an improvement over a 10. They basically leave the axles in the same place and add the length to the front. So yeah I’m a little gun shy at the moment See where these tires are? Things get tricky fast.
Only one way to find out. More is always gooder. Ill get a heaping load it the F150 for sure. An excuse for us to visit the family in East Haddam. Whatever you dont want ill gladly take. Some nice splits to be had from those.
