Did a little welding on a old Homelite today. I just weld for a hobby and no formal training but just like to keep busy and fix things.
I will ship this back to the owner next week. Hope fully it will work out ok and he can get his saw put back together.

Nice work, if my Homelite 540 handle had been metal rather than plastic you might have been able to repair it.

Yes Gary. But only if I get to run that 5200 bow saw again.

Don't mean to derail the thread but I always wondered what bow saws were used for?

For bucking up logs and so you do not have to bend over.

As Roger said, they are used for bucking, mostly in pulp in the South. The bow allows you to cut without bending or leaning over. The narrow height of the bar helps eliminate pinching in the cut. I think Dexter Day has a video of me running one at his GTG.

It is Magnesium. It takes a Tig to weld it.

Roger if Ohio Gregg has another that is a good one. That is about the only GTG I try and make now. 1hr 10mins away.

I offer to put you up if you can stand a ole farm house to stay in for the drive to the gtg and after. :campfire:

That has a good possibility. I may consider that. I can only do one if I go.

This person looks familiar and he's running a 5200 bow.
