We have it growing in our fields and pastures. They grow like weeds. I have to treat the stumps or they send up suckers.[IMG][IMG]

Wow:bug::jaw: , I’ve never seen any thing like that. I’m glad my recent honey locust score was the domesticated yard tree.

Great firewood, but the wild version is like razor wire that just keeps giving. Not much around here thankfully. Wait till ya burn it.

Looks like it would make a great hedge around the property

Use the top side of your bar and run up the trunk, it will throw the thorns away from you. It will make great firewood in about 3 years.

My buddy owns a ranch in Colorado Springs. He has it everywhere there. He absolutely hates it. But it is great firewood. SUPER heavy stuff. He loaded it into his truck with his tractor.

A draw shave or hatchet will knock them off also but the chainsaw is the fastest. Those thorns have a bit of toxin in/on them. If you happen to stab a finger, it will swell up like a bee sting.

They stab right through my leather gloves. Nasty things.

o_O If i saw that in my woods id run the other way! Bad enough dealing with wild raspberries, roses and anything else trying to prick me while cutting.
Great friend (i think). It is great wood!
Thankfully ive only scrounged the thornless stuff.

Man that is some nasty looking stuff. Never seen anything like it.

A hatchet with a 10 ft handle should do the trick.

Well, when he pulled up, he had a big chit eating grin on his face. He did give me some nice BTU's - but he knows how difficult this stuff is. We go way back. It's his way of giving me something that he knows I can use, and socking me in the arm at the same time:rofl:

Some nice BTU's. Those do stink to deal with. Since its already cut for you and not very many. I'd take a pair of side cutters or a hatchet and leather gloves and knock off each group one at a time off. and get them in to the trash. The last big score I got I pretty much did that. Cause I didn't want to get holes in my lawn mower tires later. Oh the fun ones are when you find a thorn inside the tree from where the tree grew around it...
