First post here as I start building my firewood stash. I’m getting a good bit of free logs locally and looking to upgrade from my homeowner saw to a pro saw that can handle a 28”-32” bar for the bigger logs.

A local dealer is offering me a brand new Husqvarna 572XP with 28” bar and chain for $1K cash out the door. It seems like a great deal, almost too good compared to what other dealers are selling the same saw for - is this a must buy at this price?

Welcome. Where are you located? A couple months ago I was sharing a local guy selling 572's for $800.

So for $1k OTD w/ a 28" bar, that is about the same deal really, no? Especially with the price increases that have probably happened in the last 6 months...

Maybe. $125 for a Husky 28" bar and XCut chain (free shipping) on the bay.

I’m in Southeastern PA and I see you’re in Gettysburg so a couple hours to your east. Any idea what your local guy is selling 572s for now and whether he’ll ship?

That guy will ship. $800 is tax included for the powerhead only and the post on FB is still active. If you need a contact number, lmk and I’ll reach out to him. He’s in Finksburg MD.

FYI, I've shipped a few saws to and from my house to NY , OH, MI and more. I'd guess about $25-35 from him to say Philly.

It seems like a decent deal to me. I bought 2 576XPs used on eBay. They tend to run around the $5XX range, including bar and chain if you look for them. Problem is you never know if you're buying someone else's problem. I've been lucky. My local dealers didn't have any pro saws so I ended up going used.

Thanks, interestingly I found that FB ad a few weeks ago and messaged him to buy one but never got a response. That deal seemed almost too good to be true compared to what my local dealers were asking. I ended up picking up the 572XP from the local dealer this morning.

Is it even that much? The other deal was "plus shipping" too...they were both tax included, so that's a wash...I bet it was more like $30-40 more to the local dealer...its worth that just for the "instant gratification", no? :saw:

Better to support your local dealer.

Wish I had one close that was worth that attitude. Both the Husky and Stihl ones close to me I won't bother with. I've tried and I'm afraid it has soured my opinion. Sometimes I loose sight of this in my recommendations online, but I do agree to give the local good guy your support.

Now, about this new saw... :ithappened: :coffee:

I have top notch Stihl and kubota dealer I use; retired general whose dad was farmer, owns it. The people that work there have a clue!

I wouldnt buy it as its not a Stihl! :D Just kidding krich966

Sounds like a good deal to me as compared to a Stihl saw (MS462) of the same CC new.

Seen a nice looking 372XP with 24" bar here locally for $450...totally different gen saw, but I didn't think that sounded like too hateful of a price, if it checked out ok...not gonna go look at it, was more just seeing if my thinking on the price is right...
