I have had my 562xp for 8 years. It has been a workhorse and owes me nothing. Was cutting a large oak round in half and it heated up incredible hot and then locked up on me. The piston and cylinder are trashed and upon further inspection seems as somehow my fuel had water in it. Not sure how it happened but it did.

I am wondering my options. Obviously a new saw in that class and cc range is $600 plus. I'm fairly handy so I was thinking of getting a new OEM cylinder kit. I see them online for $129-160. Is there anything else I should look to replace? Does anyone have a good reliable source for OEM parts? And is it fairly straight forward to replace? Thanks in advance.

Does the kit include base gasket, piston pin, needle bearing, circlips? Does your saw have an intake and exhaust gasket? Have you replaced the air filter recently? How old is your bar? Probably should replace fuel line while your in there.

Sounds like it leaned out on you. I would make sure you don't have an air leak around your crank seals before you put a new top end on it.

Before you tear it down do a vacuum and pressure test, then take the jug off and see if you can salvage the cylinder. If it were me after 8 years I would do a complete rebuild, bearings, gaskets and seals, The other thing is send it to Mi. and let sausage fingers stuff it with sausage.

I’d put money on it the crank bearings are shot and it started sucking air through the seals. A new loaded short block is $110 I believe on eBay. I would try to clean up your cylinder and put a new meteor piston in it.If all that is doable, you’d end up with about $170 into it and would have a brand new crank case, crank, bearings, seals, and piston

Water in the fuel. Saw or fuel containers sitting on cement garage floor?
