Well, it finally happened. I was traveling for work today and stopped at a Husqvarna dealer, they had a 562 and a 550. All the dealers I have stopped at never had one in stock. It felt good in my hands and it is a big step because I have always had Stihls. Hopefully it will live up to the hype.

Follow the directions in your book. They're fantastic little saws.. It will take a few tanks to get broke in.
Smoothest 50cc saw made right there..

I looked at the 562 specs awhile ago. I wanted a replacement for the 290 Farmboss. I still have the Stihl 460 for the big stuff. If I didn't have the 460 I would have gone for the 562.

Thanks I appreciate the offer and may take you up on it someday. I keep looking at the the new 550 really hard. It looks and sounds like a great saw and it would be my fist choice in a 50cc saw right now. Can't wait to hear how you like it. Especially after a few tanks of gas.

    AWESOME !

Light weight & plenty of power.
Let us know what you think.

    Notice the forester bar, you add that? 3/8. X .050 X ? (18 or 20")
    What chain did you get?

It had a .325 chain and I wanted the 3/8 so they changed it. It is a 18 bar. The Stihl 460 has a 20 and 24 bar so the 18 on the XP should work good.
The dealer called me after I left and told me they forgot to give me an attachment for running it in cold weather. It is suppose to keep the carb from freezing up. They are going to send it to me. I am busy this weekend anyway but I would have found the time to play with it.

Post a pic of the winter attachment.
Never heard of one for a saw.
An air baffle to warm the intake air ?

Basically, yes. My 290 has a little plastic divider that I can flip around and it will let warm air from the cylinder go toward the air filter. I had never heard about the 550 having one but I will take it since it came with it.

Great saw !! Kept mine .325. since all the rest of my saws are .325 !! Kept it 16 inch..seemed to balance just right...but have to bend down a hair more :( Enjoy tht saw.....it will make ya smile ! I trully think its the best all around firewood saw on my shelf . I have/had a few :) Just my pea-brain opinion :D

Nice saw OhioStihl!! 550xp is a beast!! (Nice stove in the background. More stove next time ;) )

I have the 550xp and the 545 (same exact saw, but de-tuned). Both are phenomenal saws. Although I bought the 545 on a whim and do not need two 50cc machines. So it may find its way down the road soon.

New saw looks great setting in front of the stove.

Why the Forester bar? Didn't know that was an option on a new HQ.

That is what they had when I switched from .325 to a 3/8. They had over 20 saws at the dealer and there were a combination of bars available. Husqvarna, Silver Streak, Forester bars were hanging on the wall.

Looks a lot "meaner" with the Forester bar & 3/8 chain. :)
