Morning all, so when i start my 455 it gets going fine. If i shut it down for a little to do something sometimes it will go on the first or second pull but most of the time now i have to hold the throttle and pull it. It starts rt up then. Why is she doing this to me? thank you
Also was wondering if its possible that the flywheel on a kinetic splitter can get stuck or something. My buddy needs my splitter because he says his is stuck. I said take the cover off dude! Hopefully its just jammed. Not sure if I should’ve started another thread for this question
Could be the carb just needs some fine tuning. Depending on the age of the saw periodic replacement of the fuel lines, fuel filter, carburetor diaphragms and obviously the air filter and spark plug, is recommend.
I learned that when I need to hot start my husky's, that I lift the choke, close the choke, and press the choke dowe as you would when you shut the saw off. This process engages some kind of fast idle. At least yours starts. I needed to have a rebuild, when I couldn't hot start at all.
The saw is flooding. Either by a slightly too rich low jet or most likely the metering valve in the carb is leaking. A full rebuild kit with all the hard parts will fix it if the carb is the culprit.
Hold on there my friend, that all depende on the carb, a 455 carb is a $70 to $100 And many older carbs are NLA, so a rebuild is the only option.
You can often find OEM carbs a little cheaper on EBay, make sure it's OEM, they're a lot of knock-offs for like 20 bucks.
Well, for $97 I would certainly put a kit in. Wow. My most recent carbs were both around $20, and the kit around $12. I bought the carbs in both cases, and they worked well. Both off of eBay.
Lol i have a stihl 023 it was my grandfathers needs a tune up. When i was cutting full time i used a 201t and a 660 regularly. Iv had that 455 for 12 years and this is the first issue other than the clogged oiler. They are rugged for sure cant even imagine how much iv cut with that. I love em all
I have a lot of saws that I restart with fast idle. No big deal. I would not worry about it as long as it restarts.
It seems its always easier to start a hot saw with the fast idle engaged in fact all the new compuker controlled saws they almost have to be started with the fast idle set I do not even think about it anymore most of my saws are old and somewhat cranky to get started (Funny wife says the same thing about me??) and they fire right away with a little throttle but as old as yours is it would not hurt to put a carb kit in it good luck JB
I was having a similar issue with my Husky 359. It got so bad that it just wouldn’t start hot anymore. Based on my online research, I replaced the (what seems to be over designed) Walbro carb with a Zama. The problem disappeared. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
