I was bucking up some more of the Lodge Pole pine that I cut down up in the mountains and did some splitting and stacking today. I was starting to add up what I have and when all said and done looks like I will have 6 cord. I takes me about 40 to 50 trees depending on the size and length of the tree and that puts me at least 3 years ahead in my pine hoard. I like that because if for some reason I cannot make it back to the mountains I know I am covered for awhile.
Money in the bank for sure. Never know when life will get in the way, and being ahead could really save a guy's (or gal's) bacon if he couldn't get into the woods for a while.
I only burn 3 cord a year. About half of that is Lodge Pole pine and the other half is various hard woods that I can find. So that Pine is 3 years worth for me.
For some odd reason, I've never taken a count of how many trees we cut up every year. Perhaps one of these years we'll have to try that.
