Well after running 372's for the last 10 years I've run into a decision problem, buy a new 372 or go to the dark side and buy a new 7910 Dolmar?. I've compared all the specs read as many reviews as I can stand to read, so all that's left is to find somebody who has actually owned/operated a Dolmar in the field. Any opinions on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

World of difference in those two saws. Are you looking for brute force or does the weight/handling play a role too? How big of a bar do you plan to run or better yet, how big of a tree do you want to be able to take on?

    DOLMAR!!!!!

7910 would be a great work horse for you...

You have a good dealer nearby? Or you do all set up and maintain yourself?

My Dolmar 7900 is 1# lighter than my 372XPG. It is way stronger too. I did not check is they had the same amount of fluids in them, but both had 24" bar/chains on them.

The 7910 is lighter than a 372 eh? Interesting......

Definitely makes it a one sided argument then.....

    They're not supposed to be...
Would you like me to weigh both of them tonight and see?
    Got 2 7900's a 7910, and 2 372's... None with wrap handles..
Are the new x-torque 372's lighter or heavier than the old school 372's? The G series would add a little weight, but very little..

The new x-torque feel heavier in the hand that the old school model. I don't have an accurate enough scale to weigh them on.

I say Dolmar.. I have a minty 6400 in route myself. The Big Bore kit or am OEM 7900 slug and jug are are the short list.

The 372's are great saws, but the displacement of the 7910 wins.

Hedge- Is the oiler the same on the 6400 as the one on the 7900? I've wondered for awhile if they just used different pistons and cylinders, or if the oiler was different as well?

And the 7910 is flat black topped and the 7900 is glossy black...

That's cute.  Weren't we talking about something similar that Stihl calls Delayed Scavenging over on AS? ;)

How's the power output between the 7900/7910? Can the end user notice a difference? (Stock for stock)

It is said to be a couple % less power output, but I can't tell to use it. It actually is a torque monster...
And yes, it's just a way to get around EPA regs a little longer and not have to re-design the 7900....
Oh, and a fellow can buy a replacement muffler for a 7900 and replace it if he ever chooses to do so..;)
