anybody have anything to say? i got christmas and birthday coming up! i really like my makita cordless tools. this would fit nice as i already have the batteries. i wouldnt expect it to do well in anything over 3 or 4", but for pruning and small limbing it may have some appeal.
know nothing about them at the moment but we are supposed to be getting one of the cordless saws as a demo unit sometime
We've got a few of these in with the single 36V battery. The new ones will have twin 18V batteries with a higher AH rating.
We had a big discussion about battery powered chainsaws at work. Are they worth the cost? How's the battery life and power? I know some of those electric chainsaws are pretty torquey. The only real advantage we came up with was that you'd never worry about carbs...
Dumb question- on the makita spec sheet, it says overall length (in) 48 3/4 Good opportunity to call me dumb, right here....
i am really happy with the makita batteries and i already have 4 of them and two chargers. thats why i am leaning to the makita for about $200. i have always preferred makita over dewalt or milwaukee for cordless power tools. but makita aint really into the chainsaw business. i am curios how they balance for one handed use. i dont own a top handle and could see myself using one often for limbing. i wouldnt expect to use it on anything much over 3" or so. i have a corded saw that i use in the yard for pruning the fruit trees. i really like that its quiet and i dont have a saw running while i am maneuvering cut branches. it does seam cute/toy-like, but i see where it has its uses.
remington something or another i think? idk, it was hanging on the wall in the barn when i bought my place. it has a pole option.
I would just buy the smallest stihl gas saw myself. The cost may be a bit more, but when I hold and electric saw I miss the rumble. Need to hear the two stroke......
I like the Makita tools also, but I would think that a chainsaw would really eat through the batteries. If it comes with 2 batteries and a charger, and you already have Makita stuff, I'd go for it. I could see it being handy.
