Howdy All! I so value the insight of the community here, thank you for all of the help!

My home business and family need a generator to power 7 tons of two-stage AC (3 and two 2 ton units), plus say 2500 watts of roughly steady state load, plus other variable loads like microwave, lights, etc. Installation elevation is 3200ft. I have a 500 gallon propane tank that needs to last a week with low load (turning off some HVAC, etc.) to make it to the next propane truck fill.

New generators run far too much $, but they are efficient on fuel at low loads. The added complexity of the new units means having factory certified techs out to troubleshoot which is also expensive.

Used units with low hours seem like a much better value, and I can do much of the maintenance and repair work myself. Does anyone have input on how to find a good used unit? Any ideas about specific makes and models?

The datasheet of Olympian G40F3 seems like an ideal candidate, and I found a few used online. Anyone familiar with early 2000’s era Olympian’s? Has anyone hired a third party generator mechanic to go look at a unit before buying one? The few I have found are too far to drive for myself, and I would like someone more familiar to check it out anyhow.

Thanks for any input folks! Y'all are the best!
