Finished up next years firewood this weekend. 7-8 cords worth. Here is a nice black cherry log that went into next years stack. Will start working on year 2 and 3 soon. Have some big honey locusts rounds to start year 2 and a lot of big red oak for year 3.
Yeah it’s been in the 40’s here for a week or so. I got hot yesterday afternoon and worked in my T-shirt for awhile. Felt nice!
Way to go Josh! Hey, we've also lost all of our snow. Well, there are a few traces of it yet in a few places but for the most part the ground is bare. Frozen too.
Started work on another year this past weekend. Working on some big rounds of Honey Locust and Red Oak. This will be for year 3. I have a line on an enormous two trunk ash tree that will be a great start on year 2.
.... Great Work there! The good thing is when your at 3 years, you can continue to increase your bank account or just replace what you use every year...
Great job there. Keep on hoarding. Nice setup, we use that CORRECT way to split big rounds. I see you use a platform and pipe to help move the big rounds too. I made a small wood platform for our new splitter, but use this metal grate for the big stuff, slides easy.
That cherry log needs to go into a mill not a wood burner! But a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!
I agree but right now I am sitting on a couple thousand bf of cherry lumber, I need the firewood more.... I hated to cut it up! Josh
Did some more work getting my big rounds of red oak and honey locust processed this weekend. Finished up getting them split and stacked. Wow those big rounds are so much work. Ended up with 1 1/2-2 cords combined. Some noodling to get them to manageable sizes. Finished up splitting and stacking yesterday as the snow was coming down. Looking forward to working with some smaller stuff after that...
It must have felt good to finish as the snow started! Those big honey locust rounds look pretty challenging.
Your documentation of this journey has been very beautifully photographed. I love the carnage shots and your wood has a lot of gritty character like a William Friedkin film.
