Well after that little load of black walnut I got earlier I headed home and dropped it off. Well one of my neighbors has been telling me to go cut up some of his logs so tonight since I had time I decided to go check it out. I didn’t cut too much as it’s real hot currently and I got tired out but I got a good truck bed of elm or that’s Atleast what I believe it to be please correct me if I’m wrong. There’s also a piece or two os sycamore mixed in. [IMG]

Pic #4 appears to be Cottonwood. Cutting in this heat is no fun!

I hope the elm can be burned, as is. It's darn near unsplitable.

Good haul there. Looks like some cottonwood. Being down that long you can split it ASAP and burn this Winter. Dead barkless elm splits a lot easier than fresh cut green.

Once folks see your wood hoard growing you will develop connections for free wood. :woodsign:

Do you hand split or use a hydro?

I hand split everything and I tried splitting it green one time and that’s never going to happen again:rofl:
But it’s not too bad to split when real dry

Are all the pictures I posted of cottonwood or is there some other stuff in there just so I know and can learn
Also yes I definitely need to gain connections for free wood so far all I got is FBM lol
Also yes I hand split everything I do have access to a hydro at the property but I don’t want to get it and borrow it if I don’t have to. But it’s no problem cause I really enjoy hand splitting

    You mean "that elm round"?

It's been sitting with ~a dozen rounds.

Last time I checked, I didn't notice the bark loosening, yet.
