I have had this Echo CS-600P for a few months. I have not run it through any wood as I have been just admiring it on the shelf. Finally I decided to fuel it yesterday after church and let it roar. I cut up a little cherry behind the house. Man, for bone stock it really ran well. I like the decompression button. I would like to port it, but I have never done anything like that before. It seems to run as strong as my CS-670's, but is lighter and more balanced. I also like the contained bar tensioner as my 670's always seemed to clog with debris. Here are a few pics for you boys.
Looks PRETTY! I've considered buying an Echo since my beater saw died, But I don't know much about the Echo saws. I look forward to see what you think.
+1 I started using the d-comp a lot lately. Lots easier to pull when the saw is cold. I get much better pull speed, less pulls to start a cold saw. A real nice feature that I hadn't used much before. Probably much easier on the pull starter mechanism & rope too Nice pics
In reading the warranty card I noticed that Echo will not honor the warranty unless you are using high octane fuel and at least a 40:1 gas oil ratio. How you prove that I am not really sure. It still amazes me that you can put 87 octane in your 40,000.00 truck but not your 400.00 chainsaw.
My Echo has been a great little saw. Starts on the first pull, every time - 2 pulls if I need to choke it on a cold start. Haven't needed to do a thing to it, besides keeping the chain sharp, and cleaning it thoroughly with compressed air whenever I take the chain off. The chain tensioner is the most convenient I've ever used, but it does seem to "slip" a little these days. Have to tighten it 1/4 to a 1/2 turn every couple tanks. Still, I couldn't be happier with it. Only a 40cc saw, but don't tell *it* that! I've been trying to justify buying a bigger saw, but this one just doesn't quit. Handles anything and everything I've thrown at it with ease.
My CS4500 has cut over 300 cord so far amd still running like a charm. Routine service and a life of 32:1 oil has er' running like a Timex watch.
Those are very nice saws for the money!! I run 87 octane in everything I own. Including my chainsaws.
The CS-590 is the best value out there right now @ $399. Dex, does the 87 octange have ethanol? Around here the only thing without ethanol is premium.
There are a few spots that sell 89, but up by the lake (work in Cleveland, right on the lake) Marinas have 87. Once spot by my house has Cam II (110 race gas). I have used 87 with ethanol in a pinch. But try not to, if I can avoid it.
