"people think im crazy lol" ... Awesome isn't it? Lotta fun too. Next time you're in a restaurant, clean out an old 2 stroke oil bottle, fill it with your favorite coffee, wear your FHC T-shirt... then, sit there and smile a lot. Gonna need :ithappened:

I don't think that's oak -unless it had a distinct red oak smell

red oak has a pungent smell to it(some like the smell others hate it) it really isn't a cat urine smell but that is what it is typically likened to.
Red oak would have a dark pith(like yours has) but the entire heart wood would have a darker color and then 1/2-1" sap wood in lighter color

Yours looks a bit more like mulberry - a guess anyways

Doesn't look like oak to me, growth rings are way too big. Scrounged in The Bronx means a city tree which easily could be who knows what species of non-native or hybrid nursery stock that was transplanted.

Not oak, almost looks kinda like pignut hickory. Can't tell real good because I'm on my phone....

Either way, I'm envisioning a guy frantically cutting up pieces of wood in the Bronx in scrubs with a chainsaw and I'm  :rofl: :rofl: :thumbs:
