At my local stihl dealer and someone is looking for a chain for his 25" bar on a stihl 051. The dealer can't find one in their computer. The 25" chain he bought is too short. Any ideas?

Get a longer chain. Or plan "B" , new computer LOL

Doesn't it have the info on the bar. Pitch , gauge , and number of links. Surprised the dealer can't figure that one out.

Pretty well summed it up right there, one more thing would be to find a new dealer that will make non standard chains.

The bar was so worn you couldn't read it. The guy said someone gave him the saw and it hadn't been run in at least 10 years.

The dealer finally found it. It wasn't in the Stihl database the normally use. They had to Google it

Unless I missed something why didn’t he take the old chain to the dealer and merely count the links? Perhaps the saw didn’t come with a chain…Inquiring minds want to know :D

They were concerned about the gage and pitch not really the numbet of links. And the chain that came with it was too small for the bar
