Sounds good. I like the non-proprietary bearings (6202 Nachis were my preferred replacement) and simple design. I am not a huge fan of the 044...
The old machinist trick of peening the pocket or bearing to get the proper fit does work, but often ends up with slow air leaks if the sealant has...
I am looking for any of the Travis Industries rear mount blowers. I am interested in junkers or even just the housing. If you’re in the stove...
They all seem to start, restart, and cut wood, don’t they? I like ‘em all.
Outside of the saw nerd community? Maybe just a little more. Many loggers and arborists around here have completely moved on from that era of saw.
Slant fin= (usually) Early model 1128 with a 10mm wrist pin crank. Good numbers for a stock cylinder, per reports. They were strong runners....

AS was in decline for a few years before that, too. The Brain Drain was expedited by a hack, political BS, and many fake saw “porters” who clogged...
Right… try pressure.
Ok, good. With the clutch tightened? Leaks- Impulse line, base gasket, case gasket, fuel line/carb (which you are bypassing), intake, spark plug,...
Avoid starting fluid or carb cleaner. Brake kleen, wd-40, or other aersols are better. ^this is for the mentioned leak check, not to get a saw...
If nothing obvious, I would question how effectively you’re blocking things. A leak is normally slow and steady unless something is way off....
Is the clutch tightened with the spacer intact?
Caber rings are fantastic. This is a good series of saws to mess around with. Walt (afleetcommand) has a decent channel with a few dozen videos...
That old one is a great restoration project waiting to happen, too. Those units are fantastic splitters capable of real work. I own an old Iron...
