Nothing about that wood screams oak to me. I'm going red maple or a fruit wood.
I love dry tulip poplar for kindling and starter logs. Stuff takes off like a rocket.
The wood looks like cherry. I've had yellow bellied sap sucker holes in my apple and weeping cherry trees before.

I use dry cottonwood or tulip poplar for starting the stove up. Stuff takes off and heats up quick for the next prices of hardwood I put in.
There is a Chestnut on my parents property. Very unique tree. It smells in the summer and sucked walking around barefoot when I was a kid....
