Few years back bought my Dad fatwood from LL Bean. Couple sticks and he is good it go. In his 90s so I split his wood smaller for easy handling....

Cut to 16” shortie, uglies and crooked splits shoulder season wood. I find the farther ahead the picker/intentional I become.

Crazy temps dropped to 19 overnight. Cranked the stove with lodgepole. House coming back up. 64 and climbing. No wind
