After further research, seems like the newest 2020 261/261c's have not only the v3.0 mtronics but a different piston. Idk, I think all versions...
As far as I know, the 2nd gen and "3rd gen" are physically identical. Just updated mtronics....correct me if I'm wrong.
Yes, gen 1 261/261c is good, but the gen 2 261/261c better by a good margin....my question revolves around the mtronics ....the v2.0 versus v3.0....
Yup....thinking this is a non-issue. Move on and cut some darn wood!
FWIW, I do think the gen 2 261/261c was/is a good upgrade from the original 261.
Im not looking to buy a new saw, the v3.0 whatsoever btw. Just wondering if the new 3.0 module would be worth swapping in for the 2.0?

Yes I ran 361's at work and then bought one for myself, all stock, not even a muff mod and I agree with you they are good but not awesome IMO....
Good info. Thanks
BTW personally I could get away with one good 60cc saw modded of course:D but that's not really what I want....:p
Thanks for the welcome....yes right now I have a masterminded 261c. Very happy with it:thumbs: My old stock 361 has nothing on this saw in my...
