Late to this party... Got out of college and milked cows, then became a C programmer for a mapping company. Wanted to combine ag and computers, so back to school doing AI for growing malting barley (Coors), then quantitative geneticist, initially in beef and now in dairy. Small farm and woodlot at home to keep sane.

just got my box back, and saw this thread. so Blades = more or less what I do sharpening, regrinding of saws and other edged instruments of destruction for the last 26 years. Little machine shop - one offs, repairs ,make special purpose saws from scratch and run of the mill machine shop stuff, plus a little welding. Fabrication. Commercial snow plowing for a bunch of years on top of the shop ( retired that 2 years ago). basicly jack of all trades master of none. I even get to play with my chainsaws for pay on occasion. I can't believe I missed this thread for so long!? I'm still trying to figure out what I want to to that will pay me to do it. Meanwhile the last 30 odd years I have been a jack of all trades. Started on family farm, then hired man for neighbor, in college did some bartending and 4 summers did a summer help program at Bobcat, school teacher, machinist, grain elevator worker, agricultural commercial applicator, over the road trucking, and currently a grain quality coordinator at a pasta factory that produces roughly 800,000 lbs of pasta a day. Aspiring future lottery winner and professional rv camper.

I was third hand to my Dad growing up.

Fooled around for 2yrs in college. Got no where.
Quit and went to work doing interior trim carpentry....
learned from that third hand time.
Ran off to Alaska looking for adventure.
    Found it.
    Worked residential/commercial construction for 10yrs.
    Got burned out on that.
    Went back to college.
Got a degree in Solid State Physics. Spent the next 37yrs working on computers.
Beat the heck out of pouring concrete and framing.
    Retired in May.
    Now,
ride my bike to no where,
    build stuff,
    grow stuff,
    play in the water,
    and burn stuff.
    Life is good.

That's been my avocation since about 1972 (I think that's when the lottery started). Total failure so far, but I'm ever hopeful.:dex:

….so, a guy prays to God everyday...sometimes twice a day,
"Please, God, let me win the lottery!"
    Prays and prays and prays......nothing.
Then one day, God speaks to the man....
"Dude, you're going to have to meet me half way....
    buy a ticket."

Some of the winners prove their lack of math skills by losing it all too.
