Hey everyone, I'm breaking in my progress hybrid and I got a crack on the front stone below the glass as pictured below. I was taking it really easy and hadn't got a fire up over 150 degrees stove top. Is this just part of the business with soapstone or is it something I should look into Woodstock sending a replacement stone for?

That stinks! Give Woodstock a call. They're a great company to deal with.

Thats not huge problem, just cosmetic.
But it will take some work to get that piece put in.
I feel certain Woodstock will take care of it:yes:

That’s the stone below the window (picture is sideways), right? This is purely cosmetic, and pretty easy to replace.

The two front corner castings (vertical, 45 degree to the front) are held in by a single allen nut at the top. I’ve found the side stones stay in place with the casting removed, but best to put a rope around the stove, just above the glass, to keep them from flopping out (and breaking!).

With the two castings removed you’ll see the nuts holding the window frame in place. You’ll need to loosen the frame, or maybe even remove it, to get at the bottom stone. Probably a 10-minute job for a factory worker. It will be a little more involved if you have to remove the frame because the glass will come, too. Be careful of the stone at the top (it just sits on the window frame), gasket around the glass, and be aware there are two sheets, and you reinstall them facing the same way they come off (I put a dab of tape inside and out (maybe two inside and one out) and keep the two sheets sandwiched as I handle them). A second set of hands helps a lot.

I talked Woodstock today. Man they are great folks. Stone is in the mail and as mentioned the job shouldn't be to cosmic. Also as mentioned above this is purely cosmetic.

As has been stated over and over, Woodstock Soapstone is #1 in service. Good luck.
