Summer load met the splitter

Sugar maple that I had to get out of the new corn field in early summer. Overcast day in the high 60s, got it split and stacked along with a few pieces of red oak and elm. Little better than half a row on the pile

 

Got the fire pit pile replenished too.

 

Rounds and a splitter; a match made in heaven!

 

Your stacks are in heavy shade, I think. By design?

 

Just where they have to be. More or less the over flow stacks. If you look back through past the pines is my big pile, about 16 - 17 cords. They are mostly open with heavy wind coming up through the pasture.

 

Split it and forgot it.

 

Gotta love sugar maple. High btus and a year to dry. Wish I could get more of it. Tiring of all the oak I get.

Did black betty play any role in this?

 

Nope black betty had nothing to do with this....black wheelbarrow helped though. Black Betty is waiting patiently....she is running but I do hear some bearing noise in the smog pump so I will swap that before she goes to work this fall.

 

I'm awaiting 60° temps, here but they ain't coming for a while yet.

 

I second this! Looked ahead a bunch of days and I see the number 8. Daggum it.
