bigger jet and i think bigger venturi the 290 is a good saw once you get the epa choked stuff deleted
93 octane ethanol blend with stihl mix and some seafoam. Never a fuel problem. Ever Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My buddy used Seafoam in his sled for years and years...until one time he got it out and no love...some of the nastiest sled carbs I have ever been in...
I keep the riding mower topped off for the Winter but it does get used for hauling some wood in a cart once a month if I don't use the tractor bucket. Keeping the tank full supposedly lessens the ethanol's access to humidity to absorb. For my saws, if they don't get run dry and then some ethanol-free mix run thru them the fuel gets dumped into a car's fuel tank. I had to replace a carb that got corroded from both sitting and using old gas mix that had sat. I don't let any ethanol gas sit around any more. It's not worth it for a half a gallon of gas. I have a one gallon can of saw mix gas and a 5 gallon can of mower and string trimmer gas. Don't let either one of them age over two months any more. Empty them into the Jeep and start over fresh.
Same here. Also, remember that even if the station says it's e free, it may still be e10. The station has no say on what the tanker delivers. Tanker shows up, they have to take it. This is especially true if it's a chain station, which most are.
Yes, canned gas. That's really one of the few ways to buy e free, and know that it's actually e free.
Used to be able to buy all sorts of fun fuels at the airport. No more. Some people run canned gas all day. I just make sure it's the last fill up so there's little chance of any ethanol sitting in the fuel bowl. Or drain the fuel and run some canned gas if the saw is going to sit. I don't bother with stabil any more. I just don't let fuel age. I also don't use a half a dozen tanks of fuel any more either. I rarely cut so much in one day that I'd use up a gallon of mix gas. My back doesn't let me.
Tractor supply also has it. Still pricey, but for stuff that sees limited use it's not that bad. I think it was $22 for a gallon. Then again, I only use it for my one saw, everything else is electric or 4stroke.
I get mine from the air field in North Hampton, NH. Its a few miles north of the beach on Rt1. I park in the lot 50' from the pumps and just walk over to them. FAR cheaper than the canned fuel in the box stores. I have friends that are sponsored by VP Fuels. I have been meaning to ask them to see what they can get 5 or 30 gallon barrels of their E free fuel for.
