It certainly is fun. The book ends are nice and I particularly like the little star hanger. The shelf hangers are excellent also. Very rustic touch!

Did a little heating and pounding myself today. I needed to make a long poker for my fire ring so I got some rebar and heated it with the torch (Don't have a forge, darn it). Made a semi decorative handle. The curl in the handle is the only heat and hammer part but it turned out nice. Nicer anyway than the average rebar poker and it was fun to make! 20190828_152930_resized.jpg 20190828_152935_resized.jpg 20190828_152939_resized.jpg

Thanks J. Dirt . Yeh, I usually have 6 hanging there plus 3 die grinders on the under shelf. I hate stopping to switch out bits or wheels every few minutes when you are doing some odd balled piece of metalwork! Now I just have to stop every few minutes to untangle cords!

I hate untangling cords!! I did some work on our house a few weeks back and had the miter saw, jigsaw, table saw and two routers set up and only two cords! What a mess!! Knots and then the worst when you think you’ve got a tool plugged in and nothing happens when you pull the trigger!:picard:

Old guy I used to work with always used to say if he had to jump out of an airplane he wouldn't want a parachute...because they aren't 100% reliable...he said he'd want to be tied to welding leads! I must have had a funny look on my face the first time he said this, so he explained "think about it, what happens when you take off with one end of a long welding lead? They get all knotted up and wrapped around everything within 20' around! You can bet your life on it!" So true...

I used to work High and Heavy construction. That is what we used to say also: "If you start to fall, grab a welding lead or extension cord. It will quickly hang up on something and stop you"! Had forgotten about that.

Bit of a practice run this morning. I know nothing about horses or farrier work, but I was asked to make some hoof picks out of old shoes from my sister-in-law’s horse. I used a couple cheap store bought shoes for practice this morning. Two on the right I was actually trying a bit, second from left I was experimenting and the left end one I made a wall hook.

Love the hooks. Your horse head has a Celtic look to it!

Well we needed a screen for the stove and looking around to buy one was outrageous :makeitrain"
    Why not just make one?!
$35 in material, couple hours between the welder, bandsaw and forge and BOOM there it is..... 1”x1/8” flat stock took it to the forge and hammered out a curved piece for the top.

Nice job Joe! Definitely making more use of your forge than I am able to, I am jealous! I hear ya on cheaper to make your own than buying. Probably much higher quality than any bought one!

I think it will hold up, probably better than a store bought one would!
