After 3 years of planning and building we are finally in the new house. I finished mounting the heat shields on the progress hybrid tonight and it's ready for some break-in fires. Got a little splitting done today too. It's been 15 years since I've had wood heat and I can't wait. IMG_20190824_112544.jpg IMG_20190827_222645.jpg IMG_20190827_222703.jpg

What's the plans for the wall on either side of the stovepipe?

Nice place for some old hand saws, axes, wallhangers.

    Nice stove ;)
Have you run a soapstone before? It’s different. You’ll like it.

Lakeside The only thing that would make that picture better would be a nice fire in your stove. You did a great job.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It was my first time doing stone and concrete work indoors. I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

MikeInMa I have a number of mounts that will be occupying that wall along with a few old saws that were my grandfather's.

jo191145 This is my first soapstone stove. I've done a tone of reading and am looking forward to cold weather.

Backwoods Savage I'll definitely send a pic to woodstock. Thanks for all of you insight on the progress.

Loon it's actually stamped concrete. It's 4 inches thick with cement board underneath. So far it's held up but I'm a little curious to see if it'll crack. I reinforced the hell out of it but there are two guarantees with concrete. It gets hard and it cracks.
