Well, I got almost nothing wood-related done this weekend. My father gave me about half a cord of balsam fir rounds, and I aired up the tires on the wood splitter and ran it for a while to clear out the cobwebs. Otherwise it was all shop work and yard maintenance. Maybe next weekend if the weather cooperates.
Hmmm.. I still have a stacked row of rounds in addition to the area over the stonewall. All from the three red oaks we had taken down. In total, I'd guess about 2-3 cords left to css.
Maybe. Here's the rounds I have stacked not too far from my racks. At least those are actually on my property. I want to get the wood over the stone wall, small enough to get onto my property. There's no real danger or concern with where they are. I'd like to keep it that way.
Yes, it's good to take possession of them, stuff happens. No worries about them going bad, so no reason to hurry. Some sugar maple rounds cut last fall in Winchester already have a little fungus infiltration.
Thanks. I burn 3-4 cords a heating season. I have racks for 10-11 cords. Just need to refill the racks when they empty, and keep the rotation going.
