....because I think I witnessed a miracle. 40" x 100' oak leaning hard over a house. Lots of dead branches in the crown waiting to explode on impact. MS290 with 20" bar as the feller. Ford escape with class 1 hitch doing the pull. They used splitting wedges as felling wedges....clink clink clink. It worked out OK, but it easily couldn't have
You have to cut it up? Tree that big will yield well over two cord. I felled one that size last Fall. White oak as well. I got half the wood. That will keep you busy for a while. Keep us posted.
I have to cut it up. This was a chop and drop job. Maybe I should use this as a reason to add a 462 to the stable.
Can you split on site? Set splitter up vertical and quarter them...or just take them straight to finished split size...
I can split down to whatever size onsite. If I split it...I split it all the way and it goes right on the stack. No resplitting for this guy.
The tree I felled was the first time I used a 36 bar and it was on my 460 (it is my understanding the 462 is the upgraded version of the 460.) Great saw...you won't be disappointed. I got my 460 used 18 months ago and LOVE it. Perfect for bucking larger rounds and noodling as well.
