Fire here the last 3 nights. BD, I have NO idea how you get anything done with the view in the background. Absolutely gorgeous!

Forecast for rain & possible to get in the 50s Sunday, may need to start a fire if that happens.
In the 70s today, G-kids playing in the sprinkler.
Some golf practice , garden & yard work .

Sorry to here about your trees, Dennis. Hope you have others.

I started a fire today too. First in several weeks. I had thought I was through for the season...but a dull and dreary day and a cold damp evening, so a good excuse to light up, even though the house was a comfortable 70 degrees. A small fire will keep us around 72 through the night (going down to the 40's tonight again, after a gusty, humid 83 yesterday), and keep the hearth nice and warm to give my squash seeds a warm start.

Your pics are beautiful! I'm very jealous of your backdrop. How much wood do you go through in a Normal winter in Alaska?

5-1/2 to 7 cords, varies by the type of winter we get.
This winter wad a semi mild one. Some real cold but, shorter & a warm January. About a 6 cord winter :)
Will be days that we need a fire in Spring & Fall, wood is in the basement ready.

Have had long Winters & lots of days below 0°f,
Had one winter with no days below zero :)

Still getting around 38° at night. Near 60° days is "the norm" this time of the year,
getting real close to 18 hour days :)
