72, but if my wife had her way the bedroom would be in the low 50’s

Wood always heats you twice, unless you rehandle like I do then it’s four or five times!

We typically keep the AC at 75°. Just the drop in humidity from the ac really helps.

We keep the central air set at 72. If it were up to me it wouldn't be on at all but the wife and the little ones are the ones at home all day not me. I worked in the heat (outside for 20+ years) up until a year ago, and could bare the heat. I didn't like it but I bared it. The AC seems to make me lazy if I come inside and sit down, so I usually come home eat a little and go right outside to working on something. Get more done that way. When I am done working at home I will sit outside for a little and have a beer or two before coming in the AC. Then I want to fall asleep.

We added C/A to our home when we bought it.......we have forced air ....so the ductwork was in place. Only problem...unlike newer homes...we dont have high vents that are more effecient
    for cooling.
We generally keep it set at 70*...24/7 during the summer.
We installed a 4 yr. old propane furnace/AC with ductwork .....i keep it set at 76*s (keeps my freezers n refrig from running so much n frosting up....plus my grease guns from liquidfying ...:D
Same installer for both units....total cost....4,000.00
Our highest electric bill may run about 200.00 when its in the mid 90's.....thats with both units running, 3 small chest freezers , 2 dehumidifiers , 2 refrigerators...etc

    EPA has it backwards.
I use a programmable, keep central air on 80 from early morning until about 5:30. Then it goes to 77, and at bedtime (9:00) 74. Most people sleep better when it is cooler.
Even when I am home, the 80 does not bother me much, as the humidity is still low inside the house; on really hot days, if I am canning or something, it will cycle on at 80, so it takes out the humidity, and the ceiling fans seem to be enough. Of course, I have a single story home that is well insulated, and that helps. When I go away for a day or so, I just turn it off.
Electric bill this month is $79.19. We had a hellish month, lots of 90F days.

My question has always been, apart from preventing brown out and black outs in the summer, why would a company who is selling you power want you to use less???

They dont its a publicity stunt. Look at how much we are talking about it. It gets people thinking about the electric company and the government trying to tell them what to do. As some of the posts have said they cant tell me what to do.
So people keep there temps set lower to STAND UP TO THE MAN.

    Just my .2

76 day and night here. Used to do 78 during the day but it wouldn't run often enough to keep the humidity under control.

I didn't have A/C until I moved into my own house. I ain't going back.

68 over night, 70 during the day. When it's blistering out we may raise it a bit so the condenser doesn't run constantly. Humidity is a killer.

77 during the day and 73 at night. I work outside in the summer and even at 77 it feels pretty cool on really hot days. I can’t stand trying to sleep when it’s to warm, I draw the line when the back of my neck is sweating! I could go a little cooler at night, but 73 isn’t bad.

Soon enough it will be 66 at night in the house and time to add blankets to the bed. Makes sleeping nice, but getting out of bed sucks!
