Ouch for sure! I'd cut up all the other downed limbs/trees before trying to take down another and adding to the pile.
OUCH, some kind of a "nut'' tree, lol. Future soprano in the choir? Plus he's lucky he didn't eat the saw.
I seem to remember something about a clear & planned escape route at a 45 degree angle from the tree in some class years back. Maybe he had a different instructor? Oddly enough, the guy that taught the class is still dropping trees & sings bass in his church choir, go figure.
Always swamp out ! ALWAYS ! I know a good siderod. ( boss of several towers and log loaders) That got in a hurry to have a row of lift trees fell. Company decided after we fell and bucked the unit they would log from a different landing. Lift trees were in the way of the new logging plan. Being a logger and not a faller he Thor he could get in the clear in time before the tree he was falling hit the log next to him. So he didn't take the time to buck the log. First. Lift tree hit the log, swung it sideways broke his femur . He lived, but was in a bunch of pain and missed a bunch of work. All cause he got in a hurry . Stop, look, listen, see and think. Before ya stick a saw into a tree.
I was taught it’s a very good habit to get into of flipping your wrist forward quickly and applying the chain brake just as soon as you finish making your cut in case something like this goes wrong as the tree falls. He’s lucky his face didn’t eat moving chain.
this don't even come close to that, but, i had a ATV accident with my nephew on with me, he was about 6, i grabbed him, and rolled off the bike when he hit the throttle with that little thumb of his. The handle bar jabbed me in the right thigh, it was as black as a black wall on a tire for weeks. Bet that guy's inner thigh was a real black and blue mess too.
