Wood always heats you twice, unless you rehandle like I do then it’s four or five times!

Went and picked it up, had to get a tube, one tire was dry rotted so he threw in a new tire. Waiting on rain to stop so I can change the oil and remount the tire. Someone had bolted on a 4’ tongue extension so I’ll probably take that back off. Charging up the 650 jd 4x4 utility tractor so I can put the carryall on it then I’ll probably call it a day. Has stormed here most of the day. But it cooled off 20degrees. I’ll post a couple pictures later maybe.

How bout this question? What oils? What premix, bar oil, hyd. for splitter and small engine oil for splitters.
I use echo performance +, echo or Stihl bar, orchlins hyd 46, and Napa 10w30 synthetic.

    oil & gas questions...
I figure if it's slippery, it's oil, if it spodes around flame, it's gas. Lot's of opinions out there.

You can likely find the owners manuals online, if he didn't supply them.

These should tell you what hyd fluid came in the splitter, and what fuel/oil mix for the saw.

Other than that, whatever gas and oil you use in your lawnmower should be fine in the splitter.

Bar oil depends on preference as well.

That’s kinda the thing. I don’t know to many that always stick to factory recommendation. Lol just curious what everyone used.

Tractor supply had bar oil 2 gallons for 10$ last week

I worry less about the type of oil to mix with gas. I always use a good quality synthetic.. IME it's far more important that you have oil in the gas than the brand!!

I mix 45:1 my saws call for 50:1 but A little xtras isn't going to kill it and might keep it better lubed..

When I got hyd fluid for the splitter, I didn't use the "name brand" that was in the manual, but crosschecked fluid by the mil-spec and purchased some equivalent through my place of employment.

They purchase by 50 gal drums, saved me a bit of coin.

I have always used good premix, I lost a few dirt bikes to cheap oil and they ran bad. I like Stihl echo, ect. Klotz is my favorite. Castrol synthetic is good and smells good low ash good cleaning. Honda will flat clean a saw out but I don’t think I’d run it all the time. Kinda too clean.
I’m less picky on bar oil but I use whatever but echo is 9.99 right now. Hydraulic I buy for the farm so it’s what’s close and what’s on sale lol. It gets expensive. Motor oil my preference is Cem Pe Co. love that stuff but lost my dealer. But most synthetics is good stuff. I was just curious because usually most people involved with engines of any sort are very opinionated about oil.
Figured saw guys would be too.

Oh we're opinionated about our saw oil, but not everyone's opinion is the same.;)

I like amsoil sabre mixed 50:1. It smells great, like race 2 stroke bikes, but it's better than klotz protection wise. Supposedly you can run it 100:1, but I don't try that.
