What do you get when you cross a birch with a basswood tree?

    I had snapped these pics back in April and meant to post then.
    Just a bit into our woods a basswood slowly growing around a birch. IMG_4376.JPG IMG_4377.JPG
    looks like the are "mating" in the second pic!!!
    Anyone else have something like this in your woods? Pics please!

    I'd kill the basswood and save the beech.

    It was a birch. Im trying to cross breed a hybrid! A lite weight fast growing higher btu wood!
    Before i die, id like to see the basswood fully engulf the birch! If im still living here.

    Not a terrible day, 84 with rain and the accompanying humidity, but I wasn't working wood, so there's that.

    I DO, but i dont think they really care. Both appear very happy together! I even tried hosing them down with cold water. Didnt work!

    I got a hedge or pine something sprouting out of one the maples roots in the yard. I let it go just to see what happens

    We've had some trees like that. Might still have one but not sure.
